Star Applications
From OpenAlchemy.org
You are penning a few thoughts in Paper and you would like to clock the amount of time it takes for your son to buckle his shoes! You would want to accomplish this task quickly and without too much startup time. Now suppose you are browsing the internet for stock prices and you would like to perform a quick calculation of your stock portfolio, how would you do it? And if you wanted to zoom into an image of the current visible screen, or for that matter, capture the current screen, how would you do it?
These are common scenarios that require certain utility tasks that would be cumbersome if one had to go to the Application Launcher screen and then start them up. The Star Applications (aka Mini-Apps) in the top bar associated with every application contains a drop-down list of utility tasks that are typically used instantly on a whereever-whenever and a use-and-throw basis.
The list of star applications are:-
- Timer (mini stop clock)
- Simple Calculator
- Set an Alarm
- Slide measurement
- Zoom (2:1 magnification)
- Screen capture
